| Millions and millions of people risk having to leave their homes on account of climate change. To date, discussion has largely centred on what to call these people and how many there are likely to be. ProAct, however, sees an urgent need for more practical and tangible action to be taken on the ground to actually prevent people from having to leave their homes in the first instance. Working with local rural communities, we aim to build their resilience to slow onset climate change by helping people understand why change is taking place and how they might adapt to such change, and by developing more robust systems of livelihoods based on sound environmental management. | Ancient agricultural practices help protect the environment and ensure sustainable livelihoods for local farmers. |
